Maze Runner fans get their first first look at Ben’s banishment in the newest promotional image released today.

Readers of The Maze Runner know just how pivotal and charged the banishment scene is. Because of this, the highly anticipated scene has been talked about quite a bit ever since the movie got its green light for production. We get our first look in the newest Maze Runner promotional card.

Director Wes Ball has commented that Ben’s banishment was actually one of the solid moments in the book that made him want to take on the adaptation. Funnily enough, author James Dashner revealed to Page to Premiere this weekend at WonderCon that, originally, the moment wasn’t even part of the original story: “That was actually a scene that wasn’t in the first few drafts. I felt like I needed something that brought a lot more to the story, and I added that scene.” Luckily for us, though, the moment made it in!

The cast and crew have shared multiple times that the banishment scene is something they’re extremely proud of and they are very excited to share it with the audience. There’s no doubt that it will be an amazing moment to watch play out on screen.

Dashner’s trivia on the banishment scene isn’t the only news Page to Premiere broke this week. On the news site’s official Tumblr, they also revealed the first official piece of music from the movie. The song comes from the trailer and is scored by John Paesano. The composer has been working rather hard on the film’s music composition from what we can tell.

Wes Ball stressed how important a strong score was to the filmmaker and he and Paesano spent a solid amout of time getting the tone and feel right. At the WonderCon press conference last week Ball told audiences not to expect a trendy soundtrack with a bunch of up and coming artists to be released. Instead, Ball seemed to want to invest in the score of the film, saying, “It’s got a really eclectic mix of that kind if old school classic film sound, where music becomes a character in the movie and supports the emotion. But it also has this kind of modern edge to it that’s kind of hip and cool and sweet.”

In addition to the music reveal, promotional material from the Maze Runner camp seems to be ramping up as well. If you’ve been following the official Maze Runner twitter, you may have noticed them posting some interesting images recently.

It’s a fun game to try and piece together which Glader the document is referring to, but if you want a little cheat, we suggest you check out the official website for WCKD to get a deeper look into each character. But shhh, you didn’t hear it from us!
