Although the Oscars were just last night, there’s already buzz on the internet about Nicole Kidman being an Oscar contender for next year, for her performance in the upcoming film Grace of Monaco. Keep reading to see the first pictures!

The Weinstein Company picked up the distribution rights to La Vie En Rose director Olivier Dahan’s next film, Grace of Monaco. Kidman stars as the title role as Hollywood actress and Oscar winner/Monaco royalty Grace Kelly.

The film centers around the almost political disaster in 1962, when France’s Charles De Gaulle gave Monaco’s Prince Rainer III six months to change tax laws. Kelly, who was married to Prince Rainer, helped behind the scenes to prevent a coup.

Kidman’s last film was The Paperboy in 2012, but she was most recently publicly seen last night presenting at the Oscars!

Also starring Oscar nominee Tim Roth (Planet of the ApesRob Roy), Paz Vega (The Spirit), Parker Posey (For Your Consideration), Frank Langella (Frost/Nixon) and Milo Ventimiglia (Heroes), Grace of Monaco will hit theaters sometime this year – but the specific date isn’t known yet.

What do you think about Kidman in this role? Are you excited to see the film?
