Marvel has released the first poster for Captain America: The Winter Soldier, which features Cap’s shield and the sequel’s release date.

The Captain America sequel will be headed to theaters in early 2014, but today we’re getting our first official poster from the film. Click on the poster below to see its full size:

It’s definitely interesting that the shield’s paint has been stripped, as we’ve seen some shields in set photos that were all silver. We can’t imagine that they’ve decided to remove the iconic colors from the shield, but he may end up with a silver shield instead of red, white, and blue.

There aren’t many details known about Captain America’s sequel, but the press release gave us a logline which explains a bit about the film:

“Captain America: The Winter Soldier will pick-up where Marvel’s The Avengers left off, as Steve Rogers (Chris Evans) struggles to embrace his role in the modern world and teams up with Natasha Romanoff (Scarlett Johansson), aka Black Widow, to battle a powerful yet shadowy enemy in present-day Washington, D.C.”

We’ve had some set images released recently of Captain America: The Winter Soldier filming, with actors Chris Evans and Scarlett Johansson on set. There’s also been rumor that the sequel will be closely linked to Marvel’s TV show SHIELD.

We had our first look at Captain America: The Winter Soldier’s new character, The Falcon, played by Anthony Mackie when The Avengers Phase One collector’s set hit shelves a few weeks back.

Captain America: The Winter Soldier is being directed by Anthony and Joe Russo. The sequel stars Chris Evans, Anthony Mackie, Sebastian Stan, Scarlett Johansson, Frank Grillo and Samuel L. Jackson. The film’s release date is April 4, 2014.
