Wanna see Firefly actors Nathan Fillion and Alan Tudyk back on a spaceship? Head on over to Indiegogo to learn about their new web series.
Con Man sounds like a nerd’s wet dream: created and written by Alan Tudyk, the new web series stars himself and Nathan Fillion as a couple of actors whose beloved cult sci-fi series was cancelled before its time.
…Not that it’s based on a true story, or anything.
In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Tudyk lays out the premise: “My character, Wray Nerely, was on a science fiction show called Spectrum, that was canceled too soon, and now he goes to conventions, to sign head shots, and meet fans, and do panels.”
Meanwhile Fillion’s character, Jack Moore (the captain of the spaceship on Spectre, obviously), “has gone on to incredible action-hero stardom, like Matt Damon.”
Sounds miiiightily familiar there, Tudyk.
Describing itself as, “a light hearted take on the personalities, luminaries, and characters in the scifi community we are privileged to call ourselves members,” the series will offer viewers a chance to experience a big con from an actor’s point of view.
And with the Alan Tudyk being as well connected as he is, expect lots of familiar faces to pop up on Con Man.

The guest stars will include Firefly alums Sean Maher and Gina Torres, as well as genre faves Amy Acker, Felicia Day, and Guardians of the Galaxy director James Gunn.
This web series almost sounds too good to be true, right? Well, it is not actually guaranteed to happen yet. Tudyk and Fillion are reaching out to fans, hoping to raise $425,000 by April 9, to finance the show’s first three 10 minute-long episodes.

Update: Well, that was fast. But although the campaign has already hit its initial goal, make sure to keep donating (if you can and/or want the perks), because Tudyk has a lot of scripts written that need financing before they can be produced.
