A collection of Firefly deleted scenes have appeared online for fans that were worried that their last moments on board Serenity were far behind them.

Editor’s Note: These clips first emerged online back in 2010, but after being re-aired on television at the beginning of this year, they’ve recirculated online. Since Hypable has only been under operation since 2011, and since this author hadn’t had the pleasure of knowing that these existed before today, we wanted to make sure that our readers were alerted to their existence by adding them to our files.

‘Firefly’ Deleted Scene #1: You never leave Serenity

The first scene above give us a little more information about the Battle of Serenity, the explosive firefight that starts off the Firefly series. We also get some excellent looks into Zoe and Simon’s characters, following the series’ more prevalent themes like loyalty and faith.

‘Firefly’ Deleted Scene #2: Extraction

Deleted scene number two further illustrates the end of the Battle of Serenity, and specifically the hell that Mal’s platoon (or rather, just Zoe by that point) had to endure before they were extracted by the medical ships and rescued. Although it seems clear that this scene would have been taken from the first episode (especially since the first deleted scene also takes place in the pilot), it seems that this whole idea was either cut for time, or saved for a sequence that they were planning in the series’ future.

‘Firefly’ Deleted Scene #3: Women troubles

Our last Firefly deleted scene takes place during the episode “Our Mrs. Reynolds” since it features the ever-lovely Christina Hendricks as Saffron. This deleted scene contains one of our favorite deleted lines on Firefly history (“There’s more than seventy Earth’s spinnin’ about the galaxy and the meek have inherited not a one”) and a few extra bits that are rich with Whedon’s trademark feminism and stoic wit. Also, River wants to marry Simon. So there’s that.
