Stranger Things star Finn Wolfhard may have just found his next big screen role.

According to Deadline, Finn Wolfhard is currently in talks to join the cast of Sony’s upcoming untitled Ghostbusters movie.

Unfortunately for everyone who enjoyed the 2016 all-female reboot starring Kristen Wiig, Melissa McCarthy, Kate McKinnon, and Leslie Jones, the next installment of the Ghostbusters franchise won’t build on what we saw in the Paul Feig-helmed film.

Instead, the new film is reportedly set to focus on a single mom and her family.

Wolfhard, who recently starred in WB’s latest adaptation of Stephen King’s It, would play one of the sons if the deal goes through.

In addition, it’s being reported that The Leftovers alum Carrie Coon is currently in talks to play the mom.

As we learned back in January, the newest Ghostbusters film is being helmed by Jason Reitman, whose father, Ivan Reitman, directed the first two installments of the supernatural franchise back in the 80s.

The script for the film, which is set in the original Ghostbusters universe, was written by both Jason Reitman and Gil Kenan.

Production on Reitman’s Ghostbusters movie is set to start this summer, and the film is slated to hit theaters on July 10, 2020.
