Finding Nemo voice actor Williem Dafoe (who played Nemo’s mentor Gill in the Pixar classic) has confirmed he’s returning for the sequel and spoke briefly about the script.

In an interview with TotalFilm, Dafoe confirmed his role in the Ellen DeGeneres-led sequel slated to hit theaters in 2016.

“Yeah I’ve already started. It’s even better than the first,” he said. “It’s fantastic. It’s good to say I think it’s going to be better than the first; that’s good advertising!”

He added, “It’s difficult to repeat a success and so many years afterwards,” refering to the fact that the original film and the sequel will be a whopping thirteen years apart, “but it’s really cool. I’ve done one session so far and I just am going to have such a good time.”

Many actors from Nemo are expected to appear in the sequel, including Albert Brooks who voiced Nemo’s father Marlin.

At their D23 Expo this past summer, Disney Pixar announced three additional roles and actors. Dory’s mom Jenny will be voiced by Diane Keaton (The Godfather) and Eugene Levy (American Pie) will play her father Charlie. Ty Burrell (Modern Family) will play Bailey the Beluga whale.

Last month Pixar delayed Finding Dory’s release from November 2015 to June 2016 due to delays with their summer 2014 film The Good Dinosaur. The latter film has been pushed to Dory’s original date, forcing everyone’s favorite fish to move.

Dafoe’s comments about the script are the first we’ve heard about it besides what DeGeneres shared in a press release earlier this year. Needless to say, we’re excited to learn more about the film centering on Dory’s family.
