While fans may not be happy about Charlie Hunnam being cast as Christian Grey for Fifty Shades of Grey, the actor is revealing why he’s perfect for the role.

Fifty Shades of Grey fans may have judged Hunnam too quickly. The actor is already getting excited for the role and spoke with E! Online about the S&M scenes he’ll inevitably be acting out, saying, “I spent a lifetime preparing myself for that.”

Sons of Anarchy fans may have been surprised by the actor’s bold choice to sign on for the racy movie but that seems to be one of the reasons Hunnam did it.

“It’s what’s so exciting about this job as an actor is you go out and get to experience things that you normally wouldn’t have an opportunity to experience,” explained Hunnam.

Playing Christian Grey certainly is a once-in-a-lifetime kind of role. One that many actors didn’t seem prepared to play. However, Hunnam is viewing the experience as a great opportunity. Hunnam says, “I never thought I’d be engaging in S&M either, but that’s kind of part of the wonderful journey of being an actor is you get to experience these things.”

The actor also spoke with The Hollywood Reporter about the chemistry between himself and co-star Dakota Johnson, revealing they have a “tangible chemistry.”

He described their chemistry reading together saying, “It felt kind of exciting and fun and weird and compelling, and so that was it.”

If that doesn’t make you feel any better, the next bit might. Hunnam also says that he read the first book to get a better idea of the character, and it excited him even further for the role.

Does this make you feel any better about Charlie Hunnam’s casting as Christian Grey for ‘Fifty Shades of Grey’?
