Good/bad/insert-own-adjective-here news: more Fifty Shades of Grey movies are probably coming your way!
Fifty Shades of Grey is hitting cinemas on Feb. 13, 2015. And like the book, we’re sure the movie is going to be a smash hit.
E.L. James’ much-contested BDSM novel has captured the interest of women the world over, and its success comes both from the dedicated fan base and the disbelieving on-lookers who are just too curious to leave the franchise alone.
It shouldn’t come as a surprise, then, that Universal is planning to adapt both Fifty Shades sequels Fifty Shades Darker and Fifty Shades Freed.
While most news outlets are treating this news as fact, let’s consider it a rumor for now, as the news came out of a fan screening taking place in New York City over the weekend.
MTV reports that Universal is “officially” pushing ahead with the sequels; director Sam Taylor-Johnson has allegedly confirmed this news.
Both stars Jamie Dornan (Christian Grey) and Dakota Johnson (Anastasia Steele) were present at the event, along with Taylor-Johnson and E.L. James.
It is unknown whether the main stars would return for the sequels, but we assume they have signed some kind of multi-picture deal with Universal in the event that the film is a hit.

The fan screening in NYC has so far been the only pre-screening for Fifty Shades of Grey, so we’re still waiting to hear if this movie is actually worth seeing.
Reports from the event are scarce, but we know from fan reviews that the first 40 minutes of the film has no sex scenes — a fact which allegedly left fans “restless.”
In fact, British newspaper The Telegraph reports that the film only has a total of 11 minutes worth of sex.
An anonymous review does assure anxious fans that there will be “full blown S&M sex at 104 minutes,” as well as “a glimmer of Jamie’s manhood.”
“Holy crap!” as Anastasia would exclaim.
For a movie that has been so hyped up for its erotic nature, we are left to wonder whether the strength of the characters and their love story will be enough to make Fifty Shades the box office success Universal is hoping for.
