Jennifer Ehle appears poised to join Fifty Shades of Grey as lead character Anastasia’s mother.

In the book series by E.L. James, Carla Wilks is on her fourth husband and has “the attention span of a goldfish.” Anatasia flies out to her mother in Georgia to get away from Christian for a while, but Christian follows behind her and ends up meeting Mom. Carla is impressed with Christian thanks to – you guessed it – his good looks and wealth.

Ehle has had supporting roles in Zero Dark Thirty, The King’s Speech, Contagion, and The Ides of March in recent years.

Fifty Shades of Grey has already cast Dakota Johnson as Anastasia and Charlie Hunnam as Christian. The film will be directed by Sam Taylor-Johnson and has a release date of August 1, 2014.

Last month, Hunnam spoke about his chemistry with Johnson following the announcement of his casting.

Fifty Shades of Grey was the best-selling book in 2012 and has slipped in sales as interest (and the number of potential readers) wanes. The film is highly-anticipated by fans and everyone is very interested in seeing how they pull off the storyline with an R or PG-13 rating.
