Fifty Shades of Grey author E.L. James recently participated in a fan Q&A, and a couple of her answers were quite interesting.

In regards to the upcoming book-to-film adaptation, James says that she doesn’t want Twilight’s lead stars Rob Pattinson and Kristen Stewart in it. The Examiner reports:

Speaking at a U.K. fan event, she was asked whether she’d like for Pattinson and Stewart to appear in the film, reprising her transformative version of their old characters, “Bella” and “Edward” who she changed to “Ana” and “Christian.” She reportedly answered, “I think it would be too strange ! It would just be .. Uggh weird!”

Stewart herself is on record saying “maybe” when asked if she’d be interested in starring in it with co-star Pattinson.

Outside of that question, James also commented on how she developed the story and how it went further and further away from Twilight (which it was initially based on):

The characters grew; they started that way and developed into completely their own people. It was fascinating getting to know them and know them very well. I didn’t see an outline straight away; I had no idea where these books were going to go. I just went with them. As I go to know them they grew a life of their own.

James will be at Comic-Con San Diego next week signing copies of her book. It’ll be the first time she’s at a public event on the west coast.
