From the inception of Smash, the creative team behind the show kept floating the possibility of having the fictional musical “Bombshell” actually become a Broadway musical. That, unfortunately, has not come to fruition – but “Bombshell’s” fictional rival, “Hit List” just announced its first live performance!

The stars of “Hit List” will perform the musical at the famous Broadway venue, 54 Below, known for its cabaret-style concerts by Broadway stars. Jeremy Jordan (Jimmy Collins on Smash), Krysta Rodriguez (Ana Vargas on Smash), and Andy Mientus (dearly departed Kyle Bishop on Smash) are all confirmed to perform. Interestingly, on Smash Mientus’s character was only the librettist of “Hit List,” not a performer, so it’ll be interesting to see how he is incorporated into the show. No word yet on whether Katherine McPhee, who is supposed to play the female lead, will perform at this concert.

There will be two performances, both on Monday, December 9 – one at 9:30 p.m. and one at 11:30 p.m. Both sold out almost immediately. This writer is really hoping they add additional shows to accommodate demand, though that would be tricky because Krysta Rodriguez is currently starring in Broadway’s “First Date” (the soundtrack to which is released today).

The concert will also include additional “Hit List” songs that never aired on Smash. There will be a full band, and appearances by other stars and come of the composers of the songs. Here’s hoping that it’s all caught on video, so those of us who didn’t get tickets in time still get to see all the new material!

How excited are you that “Hit List” is now a real show, even if it is one-night-only? And, how fervently do you hope that “Bombshell” will also be performed live one day?
