ABC is expanding their Marvel shows with a new female-driven superhero series from Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg.

More and more Marvel television shows are headed our way with Netflix’s impressive lineup of heroes, Fox and FX’s X-Men shows, and Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D. on ABC. And now a brand new, female-driven Marvel superhero series will also be landing on ABC, and the show will be coming from Wonder Woman writer Allan Heinberg.

As is par for the course for Marvel, details of the series are being kept under wraps. However, as The Hollywood Reporter states, the show is reported to focus on some of the lesser-known female heroes from Marvel’s catalogue.

Heinberg will be writing the script alongside Jeph Loeb, the head of Marvel TV. While we are still waiting on details surrounding which heroes will be featured and what time period the show is to be set along the events of the MCU and Marvel TV shows, we know this series is in great hands.

Heinberg did an excellent job bringing Wonder Woman to life, and created a movie that was not only incredibly empowering but genuinely fun to watch. However, he doesn’t only have experience writing characters from the DC Universe, as he also wrote the comics Young Avengers and Avengers: The Children’s Crusade.

ABC has previously expressed an interested to continue expanding their TV series with the comics giant, and it’s a great time for the network to add a new superhero show. The announcement of this new series comes on the heels of ABC’s parent company, Disney, releasing information about its exclusive streaming service that will become the exclusive home for all Marvel movies and television shows.

We’re so ready to hear more news about this new series, and the characters that will be brought to life. However, for now, we’re just excited that some of the unsung heroes of the Marvel comics universe are going to be getting some love in this new scripted show.
