Marvel’s president Kevin Feige recently explained that we may not even notice the details in the next few Marvel films, but there will be clues to The Avengers 2 in the next phase of Marvel films.

Now, Feige wouldn’t let MTV know these details when he sat down with them for an interview, but he definitely advised fans to keep an eye out during Marvel’s next few films because there are already seven things to look forward to “that are worth the price of admission.”

Feige says, “It’s still early days, but I told [Whedon] after reading the first sketch outline he delivered — and there’s a lot of work still to do, he has to sit down and turn this into a movie — but there are already seven things in there that are worth the price of admission alone.”

Feige explained that the “groundwork” for Avengers 2 should start in Iron Man 3 and that fans may not even notice that they’re seeing the groundwork, but the tiny details will be there.

Kevin says, “I would say that the exercise of this film is very much standalone, more so than any ‘Iron Man’ film since the first one. But because we are in Phase Two and we’re heading towards another ‘Avengers’ movie, there’s certainly a road that’s being paved — you just might not notice it,” he said regarding how much Avengers teasing we’ll see in the Iron Man threequel. “While you’re driving on the road, not knowing where it’s going, you might not realize that there are road signs and signals and lane changes that we’re setting up now — they might not be readily apparent the first time you see the movie.”

Although some groundwork may be seen in Iron Man 3, Feige explains that, “In this one [Iron Man 3], it has less to do with any sort of larger S.H.I.E.L.D. or cosmic overlay, but much more about Tony, his frame of mind, his viewpoint and the things he wants to pursue.” So while there may be some details in Avengers 2 in the next Iron Man film, it should still be focused on Tony and his life, as apposed to focusing on the larger picture that is The Avengers sequel.

Near the end of the interview, Feige got a bit cheeky and explained: “It’s pretty exciting to be this early out and already have things that I could pitch you on in a room — if you weren’t a journalist who was going to print all of this — and you would go, ‘Oh my god, that’s going to be awesome.'”

Don’t we all wish he’d just go ahead and pitch us those early ideas for The Avengers sequel?

Marvel’s president also talked extensively about Iron Man 3 just yesterday, so be sure to check out that interview as well.

Iron Man 3 will hit theaters May 3, 2013, while The Avengers sequel will hit theaters May 1, 2015.
