Season 2 of Fear the Walking Dead will be premiering earlier than you probably expected.

The walker apocalypse drama, a spinoff of The Walking Dead, will premiere Sunday, April 10 at 9 p.m. eastern / pacific on AMC (meaning season 6 of The Walking Dead will be wrapped by then). The season will be split into two parts, with the second half airing later in the year.

AMC also announced that each episode of Fear would be followed by a new episode of The Talking Dead at 10 p.m. eastern / pacific.

While season 1 only had six episodes, season 2 has a whopping 15 episode order.

Fear the Walking Dead premiered last August on AMC, so it’s a bit surprising to see the sophomore season premiere earlier than it did last year.

To mark today’s announcement, the network also unveiled the first photo from season 2 (above). It depicts Travis (Cliff Curtis) and Daniel (Ruben Blades) on Strand’s boat, Abigail, reminding us that the season 1 finale left viewers believing that the small vessel would play an important role in the episodes ahead.

Production began on Fear season 2 in early December in Baja, Mexico. In their announcement AMC hinted that the season would be set on that boat for longer than you may’ve expected. It makes sense, afterall: Walkers can’t reach a boat that’s surrounded by water. Right? Right?
