A new apocalypse series connected to Fear the Walking Dead will premiere this fall with The Walking Dead.

Titled Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462, the new “web” series “tells the story of a group of passengers aboard a commercial airplane during the earliest moments of the outbreak,” according to a statement from AMC. “Over the course of the series, the plane and the lives of its passengers are put in jeopardy once they discover an infected traveler.”

The airplane web series will air in 16 (16!) minute-long parts throughout The Walking Dead season 6’s Sunday night schedule. The first part will premiere this Sunday, the same day as Fear the Walking Dead’s season 1 finale. The next two parts will air during commercial breaks in The Walking Dead season 6’s premiere on October 11.

One character in Flight 462 will join Fear the Walking Dead season 2 which is expected to premiere next summer on AMC. This little tidbit means the plane is bound for Los Angeles, and the plane will be able to make a landing that keeps at least one character alive.

“‘Flight 462’ is a great extension of the world of ‘Fear’ and will engage fans across multiple platforms with another riveting story set at the start of the fall of civilization,” said Joel Stillerman, president of original programming and development for AMC and SundanceTV. “We are thrilled to be collaborating with Dave Erickson and David Wiener on another piece of original content. Watching how they’ll bring one of these new characters to the second season of ‘Fear’ will be really exciting for viewers to follow.”

Fear the Walking Dead: Flight 462 will surely offer apocalypse fans a terrifying premise. Don’t let that walker get into the cockpit!

The first still from Flight 462 was also released today (Depicted above). It looks like the walker is in the back of the plane — So hopefully they’ll be able to stop it before it makes its way to the front.

Too bad no one is allowed to bring weapons onto airplanes.

Will you watch the ‘Fear’ spinoff series?

We find it interesting that AMC is calling this a “web series” even though each installment will be airing on television. We also can’t believe there’s a spinoff for the spinoff!
