The Fault in Our Stars trailer has been released and is sure to make nerdfighters sob thanks to mixed emotions.

“I believe we have a choice in this world about how to tell sad stories,” Hazel (Shailene Woodley) says at the beginning of the trailer. “On the one hand, you can sugarcoat it. Nothing is too messed up that can’t be fixed with a Peter Gabriel song. I like that version as much as the next girl does.”

“It’s just not the truth.”

Only on Hypable: 16 moments from the book that made it to the film.

There are several great scenes in The Fault in Our Stars trailer: Gus (Ansel Elgort) and Hazel first laying eyes on one another in the Literal Heart of Jesus, Gus asking Hazel for her “real story,” Hazel talking about how she’s a grenade, and other scenes balance laughter with sadness. Speaking of cry-worthy scenes: There’s a quick shot of Hazel resting her head on Gus’ shoulder in Amsterdam – is that when he tells her what he found out about his health?

We also receive our first official looks at supporting characters including Hazel’s mom (Laura Dern) and dad (Sam Trammell), as well as their friend Isaac (Nat Wolff).

Hazel’s cannula is very present throughout the newest preview, which should come as a relief to those who’ve seen stills from the movie and noticed it was missing a couple of times.

Hypable visited the set of the film last fall and will have a detailed set report to release closer to June.
