What is The Fault in Our Stars movie release date? There’s only one person to ask: Director Josh Boone.

One Tumblr user submitted the question to Boone’s official profile where he offered a brief but insightful answer.

“I have no idea,” he said. “I don’t think I’ll be done editing/finishing the film until March of next year.”

That would mean the film likely wouldn’t see a release until summer 2014, but ultimately it’s up to the studio/distributor to decide where they want to place it.

Also on Tumblr, Boone revealed that the film’s script is filled with “beautiful quotes” directly pulled from John Green’s original, best-selling book. Since high-profile movies usually get a scheduled release date far in advance, we suspect we’ll hear a release date by the end of this year.

A report from the Pittsburgh Gazette earlier this month indicated that The Fault in Our Stars won’t hit theaters until 2015, but we’ve been unable to confirm that timeframe with Fox 2000.

Shailene Woodley and Ansel Elgort will star as Hazel Grace and Augustus Waters the highly-anticipated book to film adaptation which begins filming in late August. Just last night the latter actor tweeted his excitement for the start of production:

Last week we learned that Laura Dern was cast as Hazel’s mother and Nat Wolff was cast as Gus’ best friend Isaac.
