The trailer for the book to film adaptation of The Fault in Our Stars boosted sales of the source material by John Green.

The Fault in Our Stars trailer debuted on January 29, and since then the book has hit the top spot on the iBooks and USA Today best-selling books lists.

The latter’s list hasn’t been published yet, but USA Today book reporter Bob Minzesheimer tweeted the news this morning. This is the first time the book will be at the top spot on the newspaper’s bestselling books list. Its previous high was #4.

On iBooks, Apple lists The Fault in Our Stars as the best-selling book of the moment.

Both lists have Lone Survivor in the top three. The book by Marcus Luttrell and Patrick Robinson was recently adapted for film.

Closely behind TFIOS and Lone Survivor is Divergent and its two sequels by Veronica Roth.

The trailer for TFIOS made big waves online last week. Virtually every entertainment site reported on its release and told readers to expect to cry. The “intriguing” headlines may’ve been responsible for the fact that the trailer has received over 9 million views in the past week and pushed the book up the sales charts.

The Fault in Our Stars will be released June 6, and like with any book-to-film adaptation, you should expect the novel to remain high on best-seller lists as we approach its release.
