Warner Brothers’ Father of the Bride remake has found its star in Andy Garcia.

According to The Hollywood Reporter, actor Andy Garcia has signed on to star in Warner Bros., and Plan B’s remake of Father of the Bride.

Garcia follows in the footsteps of actors Spencer Tracy and Steve Martin, both of whom have previously starred in Father of the Bride iterations. Tracy starred in the 1950 movie of the same title, while Martin starred in the most recent remake, which debuted in 1991 before going on to spawn a sequel released in 1995.

As with the previous iterations of the movie, Garcia will play a father coming to grips with his daughter’s impending nuptials.

Warner Bros., and Plan B are looking to set this newest take on the tale apart from previous versions by centering the story on a big Cuban American family.

In a statement announcing his involvement with the project, Andy Garcia spoke of how excited he is to star in the remake— especially given its plan to focus on Cuban culture.

“I’m very excited to join The Father of the Bride, a beloved film that has brought so much joy to so many over the years and to represent my Cuban culture and heritage in this story,” said Garcia according to THR. “I commend Warner Bros. for their foresight and celebrate this opportunity they have created.”

Behind the camera, the Father of the Bride remake has already found its director in Club de Cuervos helmer, Gaz Alazraki. Alazraki will be directing off of a script written by Matt Lopez.

Producers on the project include Plan B’s Dede Gardner and Jeremy Kleiner.

Currently, there’s no word on when we can expect to see the Father of the Bride remake hit the big screen.
