We’d previously only known that it would premiere this year, but FX has finally set a firm date for Fargo. Also, the network has announced a new show starring Zach Galifianakis that will be written by Louis C.K.
News of the Fargo TV show has slowly been trickling in. The show will be based on the Coen brothers’ classic film of the name, but it won’t follow exactly the same story as the film. The cast includes Martin Freeman and Billy Bob Thornton (who we just got a first look at last week), as well as Bob Odenkirk, Colin Hanks, Glenn Howerton, Kate Walsh and Oliver Platt.
Today, FX announced that the show would premiere on April 15 at 10 p.m. The 15th is a Tuesday, and while it wasn’t announced if it will follow a weekly schedule, we can presume for now that it will run every Tuesday.
According to Variety, the network broke the news at their TCA panel. The network had another big announcement today, and this one comes to us from The Hollywood Reporter.
Back in December, Louis C.K. signed an overall deal with FX to produce more projects for the network after the success of his Emmy winning series Louie. The first show to come from that deal sounds like an exciting one.
Zach Galifianakis will star in a currently untitled pilot for the network. Galifianakis is the creator on the project, and C.K. will co-write the script. C.K. and Galifianakis will executive produce along with Blair Breard, Dave Becky and Andrea Pett-Joseph, and Marc Gurvitz.
The project is one of several pilots the network currently has in production. Others include Billy Crystal’s The Comedian, Stephen Falk’s You’re the Worst, Tracy Morgan’s Death Pact, Denis Leary’s Sex&Drugs&Rock&Roll and the Charlie Kaufman’s How & Why.
