Scholastic has shared a couple of new details concerning the upcoming re-release of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

The book that inspired the new Fantastic Beasts movie starring Eddie Redmayne is getting an updated edition on March 14, 2017. According to a statement from Scholastic, the new book “will contain a new foreword from J.K. Rowling, a new cover design and original illustrations and doodles by J.K. Rowling throughout.”

The original Fantastic Beasts book (released in 2001) has been increasingly difficult to come by in recent months as Scholastic slowly but surely dumps its remaining stock. It’s currently unavailable for purchase from Amazon and Barnes & Noble’s websites unless you go through one of their third party dealers.

This isn’t the first time we’re hearing about an updated Fantastic Beasts book. In fact, I previously theorized that the new edition would update Newt’s biography, which currently states he graduated from Hogwarts. That little factoid appears to conflict with the latest Fantastic Beasts trailer, which reveals that Newt was expelled from Hogwarts. Sure, maybe Dumbledore helps him get back in, but getting kicked out of school sounds like something that should be mentioned in a personal bio. Personally I would brag about returning to Hogwarts after being expelled.

The new foreword by JKR should be interesting. I imagine she’ll talk about how the book inspired the movie after all these years, and maybe she’ll offer insight into the character of Newt. And while Scholastic didn’t mention it in the press release, I bet some of the beasts will be updated in the book to reflect the events of the movie.

A slew of other books related to the Fantastic Beasts movie will be released this fall, including a script book, coloring books, and “making of” guides. Numerous tie-ins are already listed on Barnes & Noble’s website, if you’re curious to learn more.
