Warner Bros. has confirmed that Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them will be filming in the same studio the Harry Potter series was shot at, but don’t expect the sets to be recycled.

The news was announced at a Creative Industries event in London this week. The information isn’t all too surprising since Warner Bros. owns Leavesden and will want to carry the British charm found in Harry Potter over to Fantastic Beasts.

One critical difference between the two franchises, however, is that Newt Scamander’s story will be set in 1920s New York – at least at the beginning. “Newt’s story will start in New York, seventy years before Harry’s gets underway,” Rowling said in a statement last September. We don’t know much else about the plot at this time.

Presumably Newt will find himself traveling back over to England or other places in the world as he works with magical creatures.

We wouldn’t be surprised if Warner Bros. takes the Fantastic Beasts production over to New York for some outdoor shooting if they want to bring authenticity to their portrayal of Manhattan. The studio will be woo’d by the city’s tempting film tax credits, too.

Leavesden Studios, located about a hour outside of London, was used for all eight Harry Potter movies. Today it holds the Harry Potter Studio Tour as well as working film sets. Four-time Potter helmer David Yates is currently at Leavesden to direct Warner Bros.’ live-action Tarzan.

Maybe the actor who plays Newt and the rest of the cast and crew will stop by the Studio Tour on occasion to make surprise appearances and/or have a Butterbeer. Or, Yates can drop by the Fantastic Beasts production offices during Tarzan breaks to offer some thoughts on the sets, props, etc.

Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them, the first movie in a planned trilogy, will hit theaters November 18, 2016.
