The new edition of Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them doesn’t hit bookstores until tomorrow, March 14, but we already have another edition in the pipeline.

Bloomsbury’s Harry Potter website has been updated with placeholders for an Illustrated Edition of Fantastic Beasts, arriving this November.

“This glorious new edition of Newt Scamander’s Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them (considered a classic throughout the wizarding world) features an extraordinary array of magical creatures, from Acromantula to Yeti via ten different breeds of dragon – all beautifully illustrated in full colour by the brilliantly inventive, Greenaway Medal shortlisted Olivia Lomenech Gill,” Bloomsbury writes.

This is an illustrated version of the original book, not the script book. A deluxe edition is also listed, but its content are a mystery. Not a mystery is the deluxe edition’s price: £108.

Jim Kay is the illustrator of the Harry Potter books. Olivia Lomenech Gill was probably hired because Jim is busy working on the remaining five Potter books (Prisoner of Azkaban will be out this October).

The placeholder cover depicts a wide book, similar to the Harry Potter Illustrated Editions, suggesting that Bloomsbury is going for the same idea as their illustrated editions for the Chosen One:

Fantastic Beasts is obviously significantly shorter than any of the Harry Potter books, so it’ll be interesting to see what this looks like once it’s printed. Perhaps it’ll be heavy on illustrations to beef up its page count.

The Harry Potter Illustrated Editions actually have several beast illustrations. The Sorcerer’s Stone edition even includes “Newt Scamander’s Guide to Trolls.”
