Wizarding World film series producer David Heyman has revealed new information concerning the Fantastic Beasts sequel The Crimes of Grindelwald in a new interview.

Official interviews about the Fantastic Beasts follow up have been in short supply, but in light of last week’s title and image, we’re finally getting one. EW recently spoke to Heyman for an upcoming feature, and is rolling out small bits from their interview in separate articles (get those clicks!).

In the first two articles, Heyman reveals that The Crimes of Grindelwald has a “thriller” quality to it. He says the movie “is a story about love and passion and all its forms — paternal, romantic, political.”

“We delve deeper into [J.K. Rowling’s] wizarding world — we’re in Paris, we’re in London and New York — the world is expanding,” he told EW. “As you can tell from the [cast photo], we’re following quite a few characters.”

“The new film has a very different feel than the first. It’s got a thriller quality. And it’s also a story about love and passion and all its forms — paternal, romantic, political. And it’s just a thrilling and very fun adventure. We took all we’ve learned from one and just expanded that and created a richer, deeper and more thrilling film which I’m excited to be a part of.”

Heyman also confirmed that The Crimes of Grindelwald takes place “almost entirely” in Paris, but he did not elaborate further. (Or maybe he did, and EW is holding that part for another article. This new article literally unveils a single sentence from their interview).

We learned last year that the French city would feature in Fantastic Beasts 2, but we did not know to what extent.

The movie hits theaters November 2018 and is directed by David Yates. Listen to the latest episode of MuggleCast for our thoughts on the title and when we can expect the first trailer!

Editor’s note: Johnny Depp, who co-stars in this film, allegedly beat his ex-wife Amber Heard. These accusations were made by Heard and Depp’s former associates. Why are we telling you this?
