Irish actress Jenn Murray and American actor Ezra Miller have joined Fantastic Beasts and Where to Find Them.

While reports suggested earlier this week that Miller was cast in Fantastic Beasts, the latest reports again name him as a co-star. Which is strange, because both reports acted like we already knew this. (We didn’t).

In light of today’s report, we’re going to go ahead and assume that he’s definitely on board. Miller already has a great relationship with Warner Bros., so this isn’t too big a surprise — He’ll be starring in their film adaptation of The Flash in 2018.

Miller aside, the latest person to join Fantastic Beasts is Jenn Murray who, according to The Wrap, will “share scenes with Miller’s character, who’s a rival of sorts to Newt Scamander.”

No other details about the two characters or their relationship to one another were shared today, but it sounds like Miller’s character will be a second rival to Newt (the first is Jacob played by Dan Fogler).

Like all of the characters in Fantastic Beasts (so far), we’re going to have to wait until the movie to learn more about them. We’re still hoping that J.K. Rowling spends a little time getting us all up to speed on these characters before next November. We’d love to read something like a prequel to introduce us to the characters, or at least hear a story about Newt Scamander and his family.

It’s only right, isn’t it? Most Harry Potter fans read the books before seeing the films, so we’d love to have a similar experience for Beasts.

It’s been a busy week for casting on the Harry Potter spinoff. Earlier in the week Colin Farrell joined the series as a character named Graves, and an open casting call founding a young girl to play a character named Modesty.

As we’ve been repeating all week, filming on Fantastic Beasts is due to begin very soon. Gigantic sets are already being built on the grounds of Leavesden Studios — the same location where Warner Bros. shot all eight Harry Potter movies.

Fantastic Beasts opens next November and stars Eddie Redmayne.
