Pottermore WizardingWorld.com has shared a couple of important new details concerning Fantastic Beasts 3.

In a blog post on Monday, November 4, the new online home of the Wizarding World announced that the film has been officially greenlit, and as previously reported, will begin shooting this Spring. Confirmed cast members include Eddie Redmayne (Newt), Jude Law (Hot Dumbledore), Johnny Depp (Grindelwald), Ezra Miller (who WizardingWorld.com notes plays Credence and Aurelius), Alison Sudol (Queenie), Dan Fogler (Jacob), and Katherine Waterson (Tina).

They also highlight that Jessica Williams will have a “bigger role” as Ilvermorny Professor Eualie ‘Lally’ Hicks, and confirmed the film will take us to Rio de Janeiro, Brazil.

Most notably, WizardingWorld.com says that seven-time Harry Potter screenwriter Steve Kloves has written Fantastic Beast 3’s screenplay with J.K. Rowling. Though Kloves served as a producer on the first two Fantastic Beasts movies, this is the first time he’s receiving a screenwriting credit. Rowling was the sole screenwriter of the first two movies.

Kloves may’ve received the expanded role due to the reception surrounding The Crimes of Grindelwald. The movie was poorly reviewed by critics and many fans for its confusing storyline and an abundance of characters.

Earlier this year, now-ousted WB CEO Kevin Tsujihara admitted that the sequel wasn’t well-received and that Rowling was still working on the script.

“The second film didn’t perform as well as the first, but I think we know what we need to do to get the third film hopefully even better than the first one,” he said. “And J.K. Rowling is really working hard now on that third script, and we’re going to get it right. She has an incredible vision of where she wants to go with this that is incredibly exciting.”

Fantastic Beasts 3’s title is still under wraps. The Crimes of Grindelwald’s title was revealed one year out from the film’s release date, so we may be waiting until November 2020 to find out what the threequel is called.

Editor’s note: Johnny Depp, who co-stars in this film, has been repeatedly accused of violence. He allegedly beat his ex-wife Amber Heard (read the accusations by Heard and Depp’s former associates). J.K. Rowling responded to the controversy. In July 2018, Depp was accused of punching a crew member on the set of a film in April 2017. In October 2018, Depp responded to the accusations. Why are we telling you this?
