Sure, we’ve all been drinking gingerbread lattes since September, but with the holiday season in full swing, it’s time to get down to the real thing. And thanks to the gift-that-keeps-on-giving known as the internet, it’s become clear that certain members of the geek community take the whole “real gingerbread” thing to a truly epic level.
On the geek-chic side of things is Martha Stewart, presenting a colossal Downton Abbey-inspired gingerbread house.
Reading between the lines here, we suspect that building a gingerbread Downton is… what’s the word… impossible for ordinary geeks without a professional kitchen and baking staff. But if you’re feeling suicidal adventurous, PBS and Martha have provided instructions and further videos explaining how to build the gingerbread Abbey.
Equally impressive (but perhaps less evil) is this Lord of the Rings-inspired gingerbread colossus built by two Finnish students. No stops along the path to ultimate power for these two: they went straight for Sauron’s own fortress, the tower of Barad-dûr.
