MONDAY:

How I Met Your Mother: 8/7c, CBS
The season 7 opener is a double feature! The two episodes ‘The Best Man’ and ‘The Naked Truth’ will air back to back, and they’re gonna be stock full of awesome! The premiere sees Ted and the gang attend Punchy’s wedding, and also features flash forwards to Barney’s wedding some time in the future. In the second episode, Marshall starts his dream job, but videos from his past threaten his position!

Two and a Half Men: 9/8c, CBS
The show returns, with a new formula: 2 1/2 – 1 Sheen + one Kutcher! What does that equal? Find out tomorrow night when season 9 opens and Ashton replaces Charlie as “brokenhearted billionaire Walden Schmidt.”

2 Broke Girls: 9.30/8.30c, CBS
This premiering sitcom follows HIMYM! It stars Kat Dennings as Max, experienced waitress who is saddled with a former rich gir, Caroline. Then hilariousness, as they say, ensues.

Castle: 10/9c, ABC
The drama returns for its fourth season with Beckett fighting for her life while Castle investigates her shooting. The new captain Victoria Gates also begins to take charge of the precinct.

Hawaii Five-0: 10/9c, CBS
When the second season opens, McGarrett is in prison, facing trial for the murder of the govenor. An unexpected visitor might help clear his name though. Who could it be? Kono is also facing trouble in the police department, as he is charged with stealing money!

The Playboy Club: 10/9c, NBC
Another risqué period drama is set to premiere this fall: The Playboy Club is a provocative seriues set in the 1960s, where “a visionary entrepreneur created an empire and an icon changed American culture.” In the pilot we follow new bunny Maureen, who quickly gets caught up in a dangerous situation with life altering consequences.

 

TUESDAY:

Glee: 8/7c, FOX
Summer is over and it’s time to Gleek out for the show’s third season! Finn and Rachel are dating, Sue is running for congress, things are heating up between Will and Emma and Brittany is… time traveling?! Sure, why not? In the season opener, Will tries to bring the Glee club out of their post-Nationals funk, and assigns them a special project!

NCIS: 8/7c, CBS
The crime-soap returns for its 9th season this year! The first episode sees Tony and Gibbs attempting to solve a mystery surrounding the murder of an NCIS agent, which happened in connection to Tony’s secret assignment for the SECNAV.

NCIS: Los Angeles: 9/8c, CBS
Following NCIS, the spin-off series’ third season sees the team searching for Hetty in Romania, while Callen learns something new about his past.

New Girl: 9/8c, FOX
Zooey Deschanel makes her television sitcom debut with New Girl, a kooky comedy about a girl who needs a new place after breaking up with her boyfriend, and finds three male roommates!

Unforgettable: 10/9c, CBS
Don’t forget to check out this new show (har har)! Unforgettable stars Poppy Montgomery as a former detective with a crazy good memory, who is helping the NYPD (and her former boyfriend, the lead detective) investigate her neighbout’s murder.

Body of Proof: 10/9c, ABC
In the first episode of the second season, Megan’s investigation into the death of a middle-aged man whose car plunged over an embankment leads her to a lovely suburban cul-de-sac that’s loaded with suspects.

 

WEDNESDAY:

The Middle: 8/7c, ABC
Season 3 of The Middle opens with the Hecks going on a camping trip. Frankie and Mike are reminded of their honeymoon campout, and remember how the trip was spoiled by Mike’s former classmate.

The X-Factor: 8/7c, FOX
Have you got the X-factor?! The popular UK talent show makes its US debut Wednesday! Both solo singers and groups can compete to become the next international superstar in this glamorous contest judged by Simon Cowell, Paula Abdul, Nicole Scherzinger and L.A. Reid!

Criminal Minds: 9/8c, CBS
The loss of Prentiss sets the tone for the start of the seventh season. In the first episode, a Senate committee questions the team, led by an unexpected person.

Harry’s Law: 9/8c, NBC
In season 2 of Harry’s Law, Harry finally meets her match in the courtroom when, against her judgment, she agrees to defend a man accused of murdering his wife. The new associate Cassie Reynolds works on a case in which an artist found his painting altered by the buyer, and Tommy Jefferson invades Harry’s personal office space.

Modern Family: 9/8c, ABC
The critically acclaimed comedy series returns this Wednesday for its third season. The Pritchetts are on a vacation on a dude ranch in Wyoming, which allows for some hilarious scenarios: Jay has a showdown with a cowboy, while Mitchell and Cameron are pondering how to tell the family (particularly Lily) that they are adopting again.

CSI: 10/9c, CBS
The original CSI is stil going strong, and is not slowing down even in its 12th season! The opener sees Ted Danson joining the show as the new lab supervisor, who is thrown right into the thick of it when the team is called to investigate multiple stabbings and shootings on a public tram.

Law & Order: SVU: 10/9c, NBC
With its 13 seasons, this series is one of the longest running crime-soaps on the air. In the premire, the SVU investigate a case in which a maid claims she was assaulted by an Italian diplomat. Detective Amanda Rollins transfers to the unit from Atlanta, and Benson struggles to cope with the fallout from the precinct shooting.

Revenge: 10/9c, ABC
The Revenge pilot is full of drama and intrigue as Emily (Emily VanCamp) returns to her Hamptons home to find those responsible for ruining her family and making them pay. But complications arise, such as an old friend, a new love interest and an “unwanted ally.

 

THURSDAY:

Charlie’s Angels: 8/7c, ABC
This premiering show is the reimagining of the original 1976 series, and sees the three fierce ladies Kate, Eve and Abigail solve cases for their mysterious boss, Charlie.

Community: 8/7c, NBC
The popular comedy returns Thursday with ‘Biology 101.’ After the revelation that Pierce has left the college in the season finale, the gang is still left wondering in season 3 if he’ll return.

The Big Bang Theory: 8/7c, CBS
The sitcom’s 5th season opens with Penny having to face up to the repercussions of sleeping with Raj. It sure was a shocker, and there’s no telling what it’ll mean for her relationship with Leonard! Meanwhile, Sheldon becomes the leader of the paintball team, which should lead to some great Community-esque comedy.

The X-Factor (part 2): 8/7c, FOX
Don’t forget to tune back Thursday for the second part of the X-Factor premiere event. Watch as some of the thousands of hopefuls deliver stunning (for a variety of reasons) auditions in front of a live audience.

Grey’s Anatomy: 9/8c,  ABC
In the last season finale, MerDer were in serious trouble: Meredith had compromised Derek’s Alzheimer’s trial, and at the same time their adoption paperwork was approved, leaving Meredith with an adorable little baby but no husband in sight! Cristina and Owen were also at a crossroads, and what about April getting the job as Chief Resident? Luckily season 8 picks up almost where we left off, so we’ll get answers to all of these questions… maybe. Eventually.

Person of Interest: 9/8c, CBS
Lost alums J.J. Abrams and Michael Emerson reunite for this intriguing detective drama in which presumed-dead ex-CIA agent (Jim Caviezel) and a billionaire software genius (Michael Emerson) try to stop crimes before they happen!

The Office: 9/8c, NBC
We only just got used to the office without Michael in it, and in season 8 we have to accept James Spader as the new CEO of Dunder-Mifflin. So will the employees, who find their names written on a mysterious list in the season premiere… but what does it mean?!

The Mentalist: 10/9c, CBS
Season 4 opens with Jane in prison, trying to prove that he killed Red John. Lisbon tries to make Van Pelt get counseling after she shot her fiancee last season.

 

FRIDAY:

A Gifted Man:  8/9c, CBS
This new series stars Patrick Wilson as a neurosurgeon and Jennifer Ehle as the ghost of his dead wife, who is teaching him what is important in life, and implores him to help the people she used to work with.

Nikita: 8/9c, The CW
The sexy drama returns! In the premiere of the second season, Nikita and Michael are prepared to use the black box to take down Division and Oversight! Amanda is now in command of Division however, and promises Alex to find her father’s killer if she helps her out!

CSI: NY: 9/8c, CBS
The first episode of season 8 focuses on the 10-year anniversary of the 9/11 tragedy, and in the episode, Mac and the others reflect on their memories of  9/11.

Fringe: 9/8c, FOX
Where is Peter Bishop? This is the question on every fan’s mind – but not on the characters’. When season 4 opens, Olivia, Walter, Astrid, and their alter egos are all working hard to solve cases as usual, with no recollection of Peter at all. He doesn’t exist, after all. In this episode, we’ll see Lincoln Lee join the fringe team, and explore how the characters’ lives would have been without Peter Bishop.

Supernatural: 9/8c, The CW
Castiel is god. Sam and Dean are, well, s******. While Bobby tries to make the boys swear allegience to Cas in the first episode of season 7, the recent deity will have none of it, and promises that if they come across one another again, he will kill them. Meanwhile, Sam’s wall is crumbling in his head, and Dean tries to enlist Death’s help in stopping Castiel.

Blue Bloods: 10/9c, CBS
The cop drama returns for season 2 with the murder of a supporter of the new mayor. The mayor enlists Frank to spin the story to make the murder look like an accient… but why? Meanwhile, Jamie gets his first undercover assignment.

 

SUNDAY:

Boardwalk Empire: 9/8c, HBO
The critically acclaimed HBO drama returns Sunday for its second season. In the opener, Nucky tries to play peacemaker when Chalky and the KKK have a showdown. Nelson’s wife pays him a visit, Jimmy gets advice from the Commodore and Al Capone looks to expand his illegal booze business. Also, don’t forget to catch the premiere pre-show at 8.45!
