Most die-hard fans know when their shows come back for the fall TV premieres and what happened last season, but a lot of us might not remember all the details. Check out which shows are coming back this week and a quick synopsis of what happened last season.

As a weekly feature during the fall TV premiere season of 2013, we’ll be reminding you which shows are premiering this week and what happened last season – just in case you forgot! Here’s a list of the shows returning:

Monday

8:00PM EST/PST: ‘How I Met Your Mother’ on CBS

Episode Synopsis: In the Season 9 premiere, it’s Robin and Barney’s wedding weekend on Long Island, where the couple make an unsettling family discovery, while Marshall is winging it back East for the big day, but runs into some problems, and Lily has a confrontation with Ted over his long-standing attachment to Robin.

Season 8 Recap: Perhaps the biggest takeaway from season 8 was the last-second (literally) reveal of The Mother. You can refresh yourself by reading our recap from the finale, as well as watch the preview for the upcoming season here. Beyond that, notable moments include Barney’s final page in ‘The Playbook’ entitled The Robin, which culminated in his marriage proposal, and the strong resurfacing of romantic feelings Ted had about Robin. Granted, we always knew he’s harbored something for her for nearly eight years at this point, but we saw him going further than before to let her know how he feels.

8:00PM EST/PST: ‘The Voice’ on NBC

Episode Synopsis: All of the original coaches are back for season 5: Adam Levine, Blake Shelton, Cee Lo Green, and Christina Aguilera. As new talent takes the stage for the blind auditions, the other three coaches will try to collect the best artists, in order to stop Team Blake’s three-year winning streak.

10:00PM EST/PST: ‘Castle’ on ABC

Episode Synopsis: Episode Synopsis: In the sixth-season opener, Castle and Beckett deal with the fallout from their personal choices as a high-stakes investigation unfolds.

Season 5 Recap: The most important thing to remember when Castle airs this fall is that Beckett got a job offer in DC, and was thinking of taking it. When she rang Castle up to let him know he’d finally decided that he wanted more and proposed, and the cliffhanger left us wondering if Beckett said yes or if she’ll take the job!

Tuesday

8:00PM EST/PST: ‘Marvel’s Agents of S.H.I.E.L.D.’ on ABC

Episode Synopsis: Agent Phil Coulson assembles a team to investigate extraordinary people and events around the world in this action-adventure series. In the premiere, the team goes after a man who has gained unusual and potentially dangerous powers.

Previously: Agent Coulson totally died in The Avengers… right?

Wednesday

8:00PM EST/PST: ‘Revolution’ on NBC

Episode Synopsis: In the Season 2 premiere, Miles, Aaron and Rachel find themselves in a small town in Texas where Rachel comes across a figure from her past; Charlie is on a mission in the Plains Nation; and Neville and Jason search a refugee camp for a loved one.

Season 1 Recap: Perhaps one of the best freshman shows of last year, the season is now available on Netflix should you want to thoroughly catch up on this post-apocalyptic drama. The Reader’s Digest version: Charlie started the series with a dad and brother, lost both of them, and gained a long-lost mother. It’s a little bit confusing. Turns out, shutting off the lights all over the world involved a little more than flipping a switch. Complex physics and a little bit of mystery are also involved. But when it’s revealed that power – and weaponry – can be turned back on, the world is more dangerous than ever before.

Thursday

8:00PM EST/PST: ‘The Big Bang Theory’ on CBS

Episode Synopsis: IIn the Season 7 premiere, Leonard is away at sea, so Sheldon and Penny spend some time together and spill some revealing secrets. Meanwhile, Howard comes to Raj’s aid after his breakup with his girlfriend.

Season 6 Recap: Even though Leonard and Penny’s relationship was the strongest it’s ever been, Leonard set sail to spend four months doing research on the North Sea. Sheldon and Amy were steadily snail-pacing it towards intimacy, but Raj got dumped (again) by Lucy. Luckily, Raj’s sorrow broke through his mental block, and he can now talk to women without being drunk! (The problem now? Getting him to shut up.)

8:00PM EST/PST: ‘Parks and Recreation’ on NBC

Episode Synopsis: Season 6 begins with Leslie being honored at an award ceremony in London, where she travels with Ben, Andy, April and Ron. Back home, Tom is on the hunt for the mysterious businessman who’s trying to shut down Rent a Swag, while Ann and Chris adjust to the next phase of their relationship.

Season 5 Recap: In true Parks and Rec eccentric fashion, Leslie and Ben tie the knot on a whim, and it’s more adorable than any grand wedding could’ve ever hoped to accomplish. Ann decides she wants to have a baby, and after running around town looking for a sperm donor, figures Chris, the man who is literally perfect, would be a good father. Jerry retired. Ron, who had been dating mother-of-two, Diane, may soon be dating soon-to-be-mother-of-three Diane (that is to say, the season ended on a cliffhanger).

9:00PM EST/PST: ‘Glee’ on FOX

Episode Synopsis: The members of New Directions perform Beatles hits in the Season 5 premiere. Elsewhere, Blaine and Kurt ponder their future together; and Rachel’s ambitions take her in an unexpected direction.

Season 4 Recap: Season 4 of Glee showcased 2 timelines: the new New Directions in Lima and Kurt, Rachel (and eventually Santana) in New York City. We saw the break up of Finchel and Klaine in 1 dramatic episode, and the subsequent angst that went along with it throughout the rest of the season. After a school shooting scare rocks McKinley, New Directions come back and win Regionals while Rachel auditions for the biggest role of her life: Fanny Brice in Funny Girl on Broadway. We’re left hanging at the end of season 4 as we don’t find out if Rachel gets the part. We also see Blaine walking up to Kurt with what appears to be an engagement ring.

9:00PM EST/PST: ‘Grey’s Anatomy’ on ABC

Episode Synopsis: In the 10th-season opener, mudslide victims arrive in the ER. Meanwhile, Meredith faces a tough choice; Callie deals with Arizona’s unfaithfulness; and Richard’s life is in jeopardy.

Season 9 Recap:
At the start of the season, the surgeons had to cope with their losses from the plane crash. Still not over the accident, they have to remove Mark from life support. Arizona and Callie’s relationship has taken a major toll ever since Callie made the decision to have Arizona’s leg amputated in order to save her life.

Meredith, Derek, Cristina, Callie, and Arizona decide to fight their case against the airplane manufacturer. They later learn that their legal team actually wants to go after the hospital and Owen for hiring the plane. Meanwhile, Meredith finds out she is three weeks pregnant. Jo and Alex, who originally butted heads, begin to bond over their love for pediatrics and tough childhood.
The plane crash survivors win their case in court and are each awarded $15 million. Owen finds out that the hospitals insurance company won’t pay for the lawsuit and the hospital may be forced to close its doors. An advisor is brought in to help the hospital stay open and their only option seems to be selling to an investor.

The problem is, the only one that they find would turn the hospital into a place doctors hate working. Together the plane crash survivors and Catherine Avery buy the hospital and Jackson is made head of the hospital board. They rename the hospital Grey Sloan Memorial Hospital to remember Mark and Lexie.

In the season finale, a super storm hits Seattle sending the hospital into a frenzy. Not only does the hospital lose power but some relationships change forever. Meredith goes into labor, and after nearly dying is saved by Bailey. Arizona gives into temptation and cheats on Callie with Dr. Boswell. After chasing off her abusive ex-boyfriend, Alex confesses his love to Jo. Richard tries to get the power back on but get electrocuted in the process.

Season 10 will pick up just hours after the season 9 finale!

10:00PM EST/PST: ‘Elementary’ on CBS

Episode Synopsis: Season 2 begins with Holmes and Watson traveling to London to help a former mentor investigate an unsolved mystery. Meanwhile, Sherlock’s estranged brother Mycroft reunites with him and reveals some secrets of his own.

Season 1 Recap: Many were skeptical of the Americanized, modernized tale of Sherlock Holmes. We are, after all, still loyal to the BBC’s Sherlock, however the worries of Elementary being a mere copy of Sherlock are completely unfounded. In season 1, we see Sherlock experience significant personal growth with the help of kick-ass Joan Watson. He becomes less surly and more open to relationships, that is, until (spoilers) the identity of Moriarty is revealed to be Sherlock’s lost-love Irene Adler.

10:00PM EST/PST: ‘Parenthood’ on NBC

Episode Synopsis: The Bravermans are enamored with Jasmine and Crosby’s new baby as the fifth season opens. Meanwhile, Kristina takes on a new fight after being declared cancer-free; Joel and Julia deal with challenges; Hank moves back to town; and Amber’s soldier boyfriend comes home.

Season 4 Recap: There are just a few things you guys need to remember to really get back in the groove: Julia and Joel made Victor’s adoption official (which is a good thing now that he isn’t being a brat), Jasmine and Crosby are having a second kid, and Kristina got news that she’s cancer free and took a trip with Adam to Hawaii. Amber got back together with Ryan, while her brother got accepted into his first choice college, but their mother faced some bad romantic news. While Mark confessed his love to Sarah she turned him down for her newer boyfriend, Hank, who ultimately decided to move to Montana and in turn leave Sarah behind.

Saturday

11:30PM EST/PST:’Saturday Night Live’ on NBC

Sunday

8:00PM EST/PST: ‘Once Upon a Time’ on ABC

Episode Synopsis: In the third-season opener, Henry’s search party arrive in Neverland and encounter some unwelcoming mermaids. Meanwhile, Henry and a fellow prisoner escape the Lost Boys; and Neal and Mulan trek through the Enchanted Forest.

Season 2 Recap: Our favorite heroes are in Neverland! Last season Henry was kidnapped by Greg and Tamara after their failed attempt to destroy Storybrooke with a magical diamond. During that battle, however, Neal was shot and sucked through a portal via magic bean to the Enchanted Forest, leaving Emma wondering if he was dead or alive. The season 2 finale ended with Emma, Mary-Margaret, David, Regina and Gold all on their way to save Henry from the Lost Boys in Neverland through Hook’s ship.

9:00PM EST/PST: ‘Revenge’ on ABC

Episode Synopsis: In the third-season opener, Emily has a new timeline as she renews her request for revenge; and Victoria reunites with her long-lost eldest son, complicating things for her family. Also: a peek at a future wedding that may lead to Emily’s downfall.

Season 2 Recap: Emily discovers her mother is actually alive and that the Grayson’s were involved in her disappearance. Victoria fakes her death in order to escape the Initiative and Conrad. By mid season the Graysons are reunited and working together against the Initiative while Emily is reunited with Aiden Mathis, another person set on revenge. The two start secretly dating as they set out to destroy the Graysons and fond who killed Aiden’s sister. Daniel takes over Grayson Global and wants Emily back in his life. The end of season sees the death of Amanda which leads Jack to plot his own Revenge. The last scene is of Emily admitting to Jack that she is the real Amanda.

9:00PM EST/PST: ‘Homeland’ on Showtime

Episode Synopsis: In the first episode of the show’s third outing, Brody remains at large and Saul plots a counterstrike. Meanwhile, Carrie goes in trial so the government can learn more about how the 12/12/12 bombing was able to happen.

Season 2 Recap: Homeland season 2 was action packed but had several odd moments (like Carrie’s face to face confrontation with Abu Nazir) which led critics to question if the show would ever climb to the heights it did during season 1. By the end of the second season we saw Carrie and Brody separate for what may be for good, and the major terrorist that took place is still a mystery. Who did it? Why? And just how did it sneak under Carrie’s watch?
