Fans looking forward to The Falcon and The Winter Soldier will have to wait a bit longer before they can sink their teeth into the new Disney+ original series.

According to Deadline, Disney+ has pushed back the release of their Marvel limited series The Falcon and the Winter Solider.

The outlet caught wind of the delay following Disney+ releasing a list of titles set to debut next month in August; the highly anticipated Marvel title was nowhere to be found on the list.

The streaming service had previously announced back in February that fans could expect to see the limited series premiere sometime in August 2020. The limited series would then be followed up by the premiere of WandaVision, due to debut in December 2020.

Unfortunately for MCU fans itching to see Avengers vets Anthony Mackie and Sebastian Stan back in action as Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes, there are quite a few bumps in the road that have caused the series to be delayed.

Firstly, there were reportedly some production setbacks due to the earthquake in Puerto Rico.

Additionally, there’s also the matter of the current coronavirus pandemic, which has caused a near standstill in terms of production on quite a few projects, as studios far and wide have shut down in an effort to flatten the curve.

Currently, it doesn’t seem as though there’s any word yet from Disney+ with regards to assigning The Falcon and The Winter Soldier a brand new release date.

Also still unknown is whether or not the current coronavirus pandemic has caused production delays for other titles that have previously been given tentative release dates.

In addition, it’ll be interesting to see if the delay in Sam Wilson and Bucky Barnes’ adventures will in turn affect the forthcoming releases of WandaVision and Loki— especially give that The Falcon and The Winter Soldier was set to kick off the Disney+ Marvel series slate.
