Señor Ben Chang is a man of many identities. And with a new Chang-centric clip from this season of Community, we get to find out which guise he’ll take on this year.

One year he is El Tigre, the most fearsome Asian-American community college Spanish teacher in the city. The next year he’s, to borrow a phrase from Loki, a muling quim – perpetually following around the Greendale Seven, searching for approval. Then he’s an ineffective security guard-turned-Orwellian-dictator. What will he be this year? Check out the video below to find out:

It turns out he’s just like Jason Bourne or Terri Bauer in those three or so regrettable episodes of 24 – suffering from a little retrograde amnesia. But obviously in Chang’s case: it’s “Changnesia.”

Symptoms include: memory loss, drinking (fountain) problems, memory loss, thinking your name is Kevin, memory loss, not knowing you’re Chinese, memory loss, a base misunderstanding of the concepts of “big” and “small,” memory loss and, of course, memory loss.

The promo seems to suggest that much like the show itself, the character of Chang is going to get to press the reset button. Chang is always the character to adapt to whatever the show needs him to be (much like Batman), but it’s nice to know that for now he’s going to be a clean slate before all the craziness inevitably begins.
