Following the airing of the Teen Wolf season 4 finale last night, Executive Producer Jeff Davis sat down to discuss the episode and the show going forward.

In an interview with Entertainment Weekly, Davis shared his thoughts and answered some questions about the finale episode, titled “Smoke & Mirrors.” And while that’s all fine and dandy (and infinitely intriguing, don’t get us wrong), we’re already preparing to see what’s in store for season 5.

First and foremost, Davis says that Dr. Valack, played by Steven Brand, is a character they are hoping to have back next year. Considering he was introduced with a certain air of mystery and foreboding, we think his story could be a significant one.

But will bringing new characters into the fold lead to other characters being away from the spotlight? We hope not, but there is the question of how much we’ll be seeing Chris and the Calaveras now that they’re chasing after Kate. “Next season is very much up in the air,” Davis says. They’re taking a much-needed break ahead of the 20-episode order for season 5 and are still exploring the possibilities of what to do next.

Davis did say, however, that “we love those complicated mythologies” and that he is “the kind of person who likes a lot of mystery.” So whatever they have planned, we can be sure we’ll be getting another peek into the Teen Wolf ‘verse while having to solve another puzzle.

And what could that puzzle be? Well, the mystery of the Desert Wolf is obviously a big question we all have right now. Davis says they’re “definitely” going to incorporate that into season 5 and that it will be a part of both Malia’s story and Braeden’s.

Braeden was one of those characters we never thought we’d see again after season 3, episode 1, but thankfully she came back — and in full force. Davis even says, “I’d love her to come back, and that’s kind of why we tied her into the whole desert wolf mystery. I love Meagan Tandy so much; she’s such an awesome girl. I think she’s really stepped up this season.” He also added that, “Braeden’s definitely going to play a bigger part.”

And you know who else will be a huge part of season 5? Parrish. The mystery of what kind of supernatural creature he is has been bugging us ever since his name showed up on the Dead Pool. But while Davis says, “Yeah, you will find out,” he’s mum on any other detail.

Well, we’ll take what we can get. For now. We all don’t have actor Ryan Kelley’s superhuman willpower.

Teen Wolf season 4, episode 12, “Smoke & Mirrors,” aired last night, finishing out this year’s run of the show. (Read our recap!) Luckily, Teen Wolf isn’t gone for good, and we can plan on seeing it again next summer when season 5 airs.
