The LEGO Movie‘s Phil Lord and Chris Miller have departed the Star Wars Han Solo movie, but are staying in outer space for an adaptation of Andy Weir’s Artemis.

Despite being let go from the Han Solo-solo movie, Phil Lord and Chris Miller are not exactly starving for work.

According to Deadline, the directing duo have set their sights on an adaptation of The Martian author Andy Weir’s not-yet-published novel Artemis, an “adrenaline-charged crime caper that features smart, detailed world-building based on real science.”

The main character is named Jasmine Bashara, “another too-smart, directionless twentysomething chafing at the constraints of her small town and dreaming of a better life. Except the small town happens to be named Artemis — and it’s the first and only city on the moon.”

Coincidentally, Jasmine is also a smuggler, who soon “finds herself in the middle of a conspiracy for control of Artemis itself.” I guess we’ll never know how else this projct movie might resemble Lord and Miller’s unseen version of the Han Solo movie — but it’ll be fun to speculate about!

The Ridley Scott-directed adaptation of Weir’s The Martian became a huge hit with audiences that appreciated the refreshingly science-nerdy approach to storytelling. Let’s hope that Artemis, which hits bookstores on November 17, will be at least somewhat in the same vein!
