CinemaSins have released an “Everything Wrong With” video for The Lion King. Because apparently it has faults?

The Lion King hit cinemas in 1994, making it a cornerstone film in most Millennials’ childhoods. Parents right now are debating whether the latest Star Wars film is too rough for their younglings, while we all had to sit through Mufasa being trampled to death. Children today, right?

We always enjoy CinemaSins’ “Everything Wrong With” videos, that take both beloved classics and much-hated flops down a peg or two… but watching them sin The Lion King is not for the faint of heart:

We do like that they started off by taking three sins off, and an additional five for Mufasa’s death. And yes, fair enough: Zazu’s immortality and the convenient naming of Scar are pretty sin-worthy.

“Having no choice is like the baseline attribute of a Disney character” is a pretty spot-on observation as well.

…Talking about “that time Africa existed,” however, is not.

They round out their video with “The Rains of Castamere” from Game of Thrones, which is just harsh. Long live the king?

We’ll continue to love The Lion King, despite its implausibilities and awkward animal incest romance. Lucky for Disney fans, there’s a spinoff series titled Lion Guard, which follows Simba’s son (rather than his daughter, for some reason) and some of his friends as they attempt to secure peace on the savannah.
