Actor Evan Peters is playing Quicksilver in X-Men: Days of Future Past and today we have our first look of the actor in a new still.

Just days after Avengers: Age of Ultron director Joss Whedon announced that the sibling-superheroes Quicksilver and Scarlet Witch would be joining The Avengers sequel, director Bryan Singer announced that Evan Peters would be playing the same character in his film X-Men: Days of Future Past.

Now we have our first look at Evans as Quicksilver, as well as a new look at Nicholas Hoult going beastmode. Check out the images below:

Back in April, Joss Whedon said, “these two characters, two of my favorite characters from the comic book, are a brother-sister act. They’re in the movie.” Marvel president, Kevin Feige, went on to say that it could be difficult to use the characters, as they’re actually mutants, that were fathered by Magneto from X-Men. Of course, X-Men character rights are owned by Fox, but Quicksilver apparently fell into a “grey area.”

This allowed both Singer and Whedon to use the character in their respective films. Aaron Taylor-Johnson will be playing Quicksilver in The Avengers: Age of Ultron, and Whedon has let it be known that he will play a much larger role in his film.

It’ll be interesting to compare the two characters once both films hit theaters. The Avengers sequel will hit theaters in 2015, while X-Men: Days of Future Past will be in theaters May 23, 2014.

Bryan Singer recently stated that while there is a “great deal of humor, the overall tone is a bit darker than previous films, particularly because of the stakes.” We imagine a few deaths will take place in the film and possibly be reversed by the time travel aspects.

Let us know what you think of Evan Peters as Quicksilver.

X-Men: Days of Future Past’s release date is set for May 23, 2014. The film stars returning actors Jennifer Lawrence, Nicholas Hoult, James McAvoy, and Michael Fassbender. Also rejoining the X-Men franchise are Halle Berry, Anna Paquin, Shawn Ashmore, James Marsden, Ellen Page, and Hugh Jackman. Fan Favorite Peter Dinklage will be playing a major villain.
