Looks like the creatives behind ABC’s Once Upon A Time are gearing up to return to the network for a brand new series titled Epic.

According to Deadline, a brand new romantic anthology series called Epic is officially in development over at ABC.

Set in the fairytale universe of Disney, the new series hails from former Once Upon A Time scribe Brigette Hales, plus OUAT creators/executive producers/showrunners Eddy Kitsis and Adam Horowitz.

For Epic, Hales will serve as writer on the series, while Horowitz and Kitsis will serve as supervisors in addition to helping to develop the show on the whole.

All three will also serve as executive producers on Epic in addition to their aforementioned duties, with Kitsis and Horowitz producing via their Kitsis & Horowitz Productions banner.

Despite the fact that the new show is set to take place in the Disney universe, fans of Once Upon A Time shouldn’t expect to see any familiar faces pop up.

Instead, Epic is set to take place in “a Disney-like Enchanted Forest,” and will focus on an entirely new set of characters which include heroes, villains, princes, princesses, and more.

Just like OUAT however, the series will focus on some of the core elements of the Disney fairytales we all know and love.

Given how well all three creatives did with bringing us new takes on some of our favorite Disney tales, it definitely sounds like the trio could have another hit on their hands with Epic.

As the series is only in development, there’s no word on if and when we can expect it to debut via ABC, but we’ll be on the lookout for more production details as they emerge!
