The award-winning musical mind behind scores such as Titanic, Avatar, Braveheart, and most recently The Amazing Spider Man will compose the score for the long-awaited adaptation of Orson Scott Card’s popular Sci-Fi novel Ender’s Game.

The recent announcement by Film Music Reporter that Ender’s Game would be in the musical charge of composer James Horner, who has a great deal of experience in creating music for films in the genres of Sci-Fi and Fantasy, comes as a welcome inclusion to the production team for this much-anticipated film.

Horner, who completed his doctorate in music composition and theory at UCLA, has won numerous awards for his past works, including two Oscars and two Golden Globes and a Grammy for his work on Titanic; and a Saturn Award for his work on Avatar.

As every avid movie-goer knows, the music is one of the main factors that sets the tone for a film, and draws the audience into the story by providing emotional cues. The score contributes to the emotional state perceived by the audience of the film – happiness, sadness, fear – all of these can be evoked by the right combination of melody, harmony, volume, and timing from the orchestra playing in the background.

We now have one more reason to look forward to the movie adaptation of Ender’s Game, which is scheduled to be released in the fall of 2013. Interested Hypable readers can find out more about James Horner and his work at IMDB.
