A first look at Mazer Rackham portrayed by actor Ben Kingsley in the Ender’s Game movie was released today.

First published on Entertainment Weekly, Kingsley credits director and co-writer Gavin Hood with his successful portrayal of the mysterious character.

“In the script, which I think is beautifully written, what come across is the authority and mystery,” says the actor. “There’s quite a lot said about him in the story before you see him — by the recruits and by his fellow officers — and that’s useful as far as preparations.”

Is Mazer Rackham how you pictured he would look while reading the book by Orson Scott Card?

In more exciting news, we learned yesterday that the Ender’s Game teaser trailer will debut May 7! It will be in theaters with Star Trek Into Darkness later this month.

Ender’s Game opens in theaters November 1, 2013. It stars Abigail Breslin (as Valentin Wiggin), Harrison Ford (Colonel Hyrum Graff), Hailee Steinfeld (Petra Arkanian), and Asa Butterfield (Ender Wiggin). The film is based on the book of the same title by Orson Scott Card and is directed by Gavin Hood. Hood also wrote the film’s screenplay.

Kingsley can next be seen in Iron Man 3 as The Mandarin, hitting theaters in the United States this Friday but already open in many countries worldwide. Check out our review of Iron Man 3 to see if it’s worth checking out.
