We here at Hypable are pretty much convinced the Mayans were wrong and there’s nothing to worry about but that doesn’t mean we still can’t have a bit of fun with the whole ‘End of the World’ theme!

Plus it seemed like a shame to waste a perfectly good opportunity to create another themed playist; our staffers put their thinking caps on and enlisted the help of guest-columnist Sergio to help us create the ULTIMATE End of the World playlist for your enjoyment. If, in the unlikely event that an apocalypse was indeed upon us, these are the songs we’d like to go out listening to– we hope you enjoy!

Note: If you use Spotify, we’ve created a Spotify playlist at the end of this article that you can add to your library.

1.“Highway to Hell”
AC/DC

This track is a “no brainier” when it comes to making an apocalypse playlist. Come
on, if we’re going out tomorrow, don’t you wanna go out with a bang? Just imagine “Highway to Hell” playing the background as the world tumbles down, wind flowing though your hair–bad ass!

2.“Distraction”
Angels & Airwaves

This song is a profession of love, it is also a promise to be a “distraction” of sorts
in the midst of war and tragedy. A perfect song for any of us romantics if we ever DO find ourselves caught in the middle of an apocalypse.

3. “Blackbird”
The Beatles

A slightly morbid addition to the list, this song is for all those who would welcome an
apocalypse, seeking liberation.

4. “Hello, Brooklyn”
All Time Low

If there’s one thing pop-punk band All Time Low knows how to do well it’s how to sing songs about having a good time. Blast this on your way to that End Of The World shindig you’ve been looking forward to all December long– we guarantee it’ll get you pumped up and ready to party!

5. “Living Louder”
The Cab

This song is a kind of promise to yourself– a bucket list of sorts– of all the things
you would do if you knew this was the day you were going to die. Why not take a page
from The Cab’s book and drink and laugh your time away on earth with all your best friends?

6. “Us Against the World”
Coldplay

This song is all about trying to slow down time so that you can be with that special someone– a perfect addition to our list.

7. “Follow You Into the Dark”
Death Cab For Cutie

If you’re one of the lucky ones out there with someone to share the apocalypse
with, then us single folks are SUPER jealous. We present to you the perfect soundtrack for your untimely demise together.

8. “Final Countdown”
Europe

We don’t know about you, but this is probably the first track we’ll be rocking out to when the apocalypse starts– hands down one of the most epic, get-your-self-pumped-up songs ever.

9. “(Coffee’s for Closures)”
Fall Out Boy

If you find yourself questioning the world as it crumbles around you, this song’s chorus, “I will never believe in anything again” may be the anthem for your last remaining hours on earth.

10. “Skyfall”
Adele

Yes, we know this was penned for the latest installment of the Bond franchise but we couldn’t resist including it on our ultimate end of the world playlist– you can’t deny it would make the perfect soundtrack for an impending apocalypse!

11. “Singing With The King”
Go Radio

If you’re one of the believers who have accepted the fact the the world ends tomorrow, this one’s for you. It deals with the acceptance that you might not be here after tonight, but there’s still hope in the form of a light at the end of the tunnel.

12. “Good Riddance”
Green Day

Quite possibly the most overplayed song of the 90s but all in all, the perfect number to
enlighten some feeling of nostalgia as you hold the person you love most close to you as the world ends.

13. “Radioactive”
Imagine Dragons

The latest single from these Sin City rockers is the perfect addition to any End of the World mixtape. We think the futuristic undertones in the melody of this song would make for the perfect post-apocalypse soundtrack ever!

14. “I’m ready”
Jack’s Mannequin

So, you’ve come to terms with the apocalypse and your own mortality. Play this song– it’s the perfect compliment to that type of mentality.

15. “It’s The End of the World”
R.E.M.

Yes, it’s cheesy and predictable but we couldn’t resist adding in this popular R.E.M. number to our playlist– it is, after all, THE ultimate end of the world song out there!

16. “Somewhere Only We Know”
Keane

Another one for those hopeless romantics out there– invite the person you love to somewhere only you two know to escape tomorrow’s panic and play this number bittersweet number when you get to your destination.

17. “Say It To Me Now”
Glen Hansard

This song is all about making sure things don’t go unsaid which, as far as we’re concerned is the perfect theme for any apocalypse mix tape. Why keep things bottled up inside if you’re certain your time left on planet earth is shortly coming to an end?

18. “I Melt With You”
Modern English

Like REM’s “It’s The End Of The World”, we couldn’t resist adding this one in. The lyrics are undeniably cheesy and yet our list wouldn’t be complete without this 80s power pop number!

19. “Chasing Cars”
Snow Patrol

For all we know, tonight may be filled with riots, fires, and people frantically running through
the streets. Play this song if you find yourself with the need to take a moment to sit down and forget the world around you.

20. “Till the World Ends”
Britney Spears

It’s Britney, bitch! Enough said.

21. “22”
Taylor Swift

Scenario: The world is ending and that sucks, but you get this weird urge to
dance and start a party. Blast this song, and people will come.

22. “Let It Land (Acoustic)”
Tonight Alive

This song is all about questioning life. Questioning everything that you’ve ever
been told, and staring at yourself in the mirror waiting for your life to start, and deciding
that its finally time to start taking action and living life. So, if you’re a “non-believer” of
the rumors, like me, please just don’t sit at home waiting for the world to end. Get up
and do something, anything–anything you want!

23. “View From Heaven”
Yellowcard

If all goes to plan tomorrow as the Mayan’s predicted, it doesn’t have to be a
travesty. For those so us who believe in heaven, the apocalypse could mean reuniting
with loved ones lost. This is the perfect bittersweet song for exactly that sentiment.

24. “Cough Syrup”
Young The Giant

Yes, this song is a little depressing, and yes, Glee did play this song during
a montage of a suicide attempt, but it’s also sort of beautiful and that is precisely why the original makes our list!

25. “Heroes”
All Time Low

If the world does end tonight, there’s no point trying to please anyone anymore. The world is over– the moment is yours. Blast this song and dedicate it to all those “haters” out there, and do what you want with your precious last moments.
