As if Empire’s second season needed any more star power, Mariah Carey may be headed to guest star!

Earlier today at her Walk of Fame ceremony, it was announced by Empire’s co-creator Lee Daniels that top Billboard artist Mariah Carey is set to appear on the hit show’s second season.

While there is no official comment from Fox, we can assume Mariah will be among the many other artists already confirmed for its 18-episode sophomore season. Will Mariah go head-to-head with Cookie? Or will there be a duet with Mariah and Jamal or Hakeem? That’s something we’d like to see and love more to hear.

With the “We Belong Together” singer in the mix we can definitely see another top hit on the Billboard charts for Empire.

In the season 1 finale of Empire, Cookie, Hakeem, Anika and Andre joined forces against Jamal and Lucious because Jamal “won” Empire. Afterward, Lucious was finally arrested for the murder of Bunkie. Andre’s wife Rhonda killed Uncle Vernon (not that Uncle Vernon) and revealed that she’s pregnant. And Lucious does not have ALS!

What can the hip-hop drama’s season 2 bring, you ask? Well, check out the trailer below:

We get a shot of Lucious proving that orange is the new black and Cookie looks as bad-ass as ever. Here’s to hoping Taraji P. Henson gets that well-deserved Emmy.

Other guest stars to be seen in season 2 of Empire are Chris Rock, Ludacris, Kelly Rowland, Ne-Yo, Marisa Tomei, Alicia Keys, and Lenny Kravitz.

Season 2 of Empire premieres Sept. 23 at 9 p.m. on Fox.
