Empire season 2, episode 4 just aired! Check our recap for a rundown of what happened in “Poor Yorick.”

Empire

Jamal is doing an interview with Rolling Stone just as Empire is getting raided by the FBI. Mimi and Jamal are worried and say they should lay low, then Lucious busts in and says that now is not the time to lay low. Now that the FBI is raiding them, they are OGs.

The eccentric Rolling Stone photographer — that eerily reminds us of Tom Green — is awkwardly making passes at Jamal, which makes Michael feel uncomfortable. However, the photographer does get a perfect shot of Jamal while he’s singing.

Uncle Vernon (not *that* one)

Thirsty Rawlings meets with the Lyon family after the FBI raid. He informs them that they need to locate Vernon to help clear Lucious’ name and convince Vernon not to testify.

Andre later asks Lucious, “If I can make this all go away, can I come back to Empire?” Lucious replies, “If you can make this all go away, you can have whatever you want.” Andre then walks away determinedly.

Rhonda is worried about Andre, especially after he tells her he’s been speaking to God. He also tells her he needs to dig up Vernon’s body to get back at Empire. Later, Rhonda and Andre both get caught digging in the woods for Vernon by Lucious and Thirsty. Lucious tells them they saved his life and Andre can return to Empire.

All it took was a little murder. How convenient.

‘Aint about the Money’

It’s music video time and the Lyon family is in high spirits. The concept for the video is “a post apocalyptic black panther theme with the brothers, fighting police oppression.” It looks over the top and very appropriate.

The Rolling Stone photographer brings out a large canvas with the photo of Jamal, and Hakeem freaks out. He’s obviously jealous and Lucious gets under his skin, too. He stabs the photo of Jamal right in the neck.

When it’s Hakeem’s turn to be the center in the video, it gets a bit hostile. Jamal and Hakeem break out in a real fist fight. Jamal punches Hakeem, and Hakeem grabs a bat and almost brings it down on Jamal. He then yells, “Why ya’ll look shocked? This family ain’t ever been a family!”

Hakeem’s girl group

Cookie wants Hakeem to get back in the studio and get one of his songs to go viral online since Lucious has radio-blocked them. Hakeem is adamant about being a “mogul” and says he really wants to work on his girl group. He tells her that if he doesn’t find a new lead singer by the end of the week, he’ll drop it.

After filming the music video, Hakeem heads over to a bluesy/Jazz-type bar and a young Hispanic woman (Jamila Velazquez) blows us all away with her beautiful rendition of “Lago Azul.” Hakeem may have found his lead singer.

Cookie’s betrayal

Cookie takes a phone call outside the studio and is taken in by the cops. It turns out to be the lead prosecutor on Lucious’ case, Roxanne Ford. She has dirt on Cookie to keep her there and she wants info on Lucious. Cookie concocts a story about Bunkie and Apex radio involving Lucious — but she doesn’t snitch! She was smart because now the Apex radio deal will be looked into and she will no longer be radio-blocked by Lucious.

The following morning, Vernon’s dead body somehow managed to get into the passenger seat of Roxanne’s car… wonder how that happened.

When Cookie returns to the studio for the remainder of the music video, it’s already concluded. She’s upset because she knows she let Hakeem down.
