It’s #EmpireWednesday! Now that March madness is winding down and our favorite hip hop drama Empire is back, let’s take a look at five teases for the mid-season 2 premiere!

While most shows have been back for a few weeks now, Empire’s hiatus lasted much longer than normal. In the Empire mid-season 2 finale, we were left with our jaws on the floor. Rhonda was pushed down the stairs by Anika someone dressed in all black. Camilla, Hakeem’s ex-lover turned lesbian (ish?) has taken charge of Empire and it was all because of Hakeem.

After the finale aired we were shown the promo for the premiere — to air almost four months later — entitled, “Death Will Have His Day.”

One thing I noticed from that promo was that Cookie was waiting for Hakeem with that broom, and that woman knows how to use one. That brings us to the March 30 mid-season 2 premiere. Below are a few hints we can give you about “Death Will Have His Day.”

  1. There is no time jump. Empire starts off almost exactly where it left off. It’s as if it were a two-parter with the mid-season finale. So thankfully some of your questions will be answered.
  2. Cookie puts her broom to good use, and her purse. Oh, and she calls Camilla “Yoko.” Brilliant.
  3. You will find out exactly what happens with Lyon Dynasty in the premiere. One of my first thoughts after the finale was, “What’s going to happen with Lyon Dynasty since Hakeem is a partner?” If you were thinking the same thing you won’t have to think much longer. Cookie always has something up her sleeve.
  4. Jamal talks to his mom about sexual fluidity and it’s just so beautiful.

Then he drops this super catchy song about it:

  5. Rhonda. That fall. Andre. The Lyon heir. You will find out their status, whether dead or alive, or mentally stable or not. But you will not find out if Anika was indeed the one who pushed Rhonda down those stairs. Unfortunately, in our conference call with EP Ilene Chaiken last week, we learned that we probably won’t find that out until closer to the end of the season.

In short, Empire kicks off right were we last left the gang. It will be dramatic and devastating for some, while exciting for others. But remember that there will always be music because the show must go on.

The ‘Empire’ mid-season 2 premiere airs Wednesday March 30 at 9 p.m. on FOX
