Empire season 3, episode 3, “What Remains is Bestial,” will once again have some big players in the episode. The biggest star being the one and only Mariah Carey!
Empire isn’t one to shy away from celebrity cameos or guest stars. We’ve known for quite some time that Mariah Carey was planning on guest starring on the hip-hop drama, although we thought it was going to be in season 2. Seems she’s finally going to grace our screens, and we’ll even get to hear her sing!
In the second episode of season 3 of Empire we saw Jamal severely continuing to struggle with his PTSD. Lucious is repeatedly trying to throw him to the wolves and it doesn’t seem to be working well for Jamal. Lucious may think he’s helping Jamal out but if Jamal is anything like I am, that sort of behavior will only push me further away. But this is the Lyon family after all!
Below we have a couple of sneak peeks from Empire 3×03, “What Remains is Bestial”:
In this sneak peek, we’re initially presented to Kitty (Mariah Carey) and it seems Cookie has set up a meeting between Jamal and Kitty. Jamal is of course star struck because Kitty is a very well known singer/artist. Then Jamal is invited to go on tour with her! Jamal then blurts out that he’s “not really performing right now,” and then things get awkward. Kitty tells Cookie and Jamal that she’s going to get back to rehearsing and to get back with her later.
Here we have Jamal and Kitty trying to record a hot new track called “Infamous.” Jamal is obviously struggling a bit, and once again Lucious is absolutely no help. It also doesn’t help that it seems the recording is being video taped or broadcast.
Jamal asks for the mood to be set in terms of lighting and he turns around and it looks like he may have taken a pain killer. Wasn’t he trying to get himself off of those? Also, was Kitty just flirting a bit with Andre there? He looked like he even blushed a bit! Good for him!
I really hope Jamal is able to get out of this funk and completely blow them all out of the water. Jamal is an amazing lyricist but his pipes are what helps get his message across. I fear he may be going down an even darker hole the remainder of this season. We’ll have to tune in to see if he’s able to record “Infamous” with Kitty on Empire on Wednesday, October 5 at 9 p.m. on FOX.
