Empire season 2, episode 5, “Be True,” just aired! Find out what other confessions Andre had before attending his baptism.

Andre’s baptism

Andre has some obvious demons eating at him. Reverend Price convinces Andre to confess some of his sins to his family. We discover that he’s the one who sent the thugs to rob Jamal in season 1. He also went behind Lucious’ back and told Cookie to blackmail him after producing Jamal. Andre even confessed to his father about his suicide attempt.

Surprisingly, everyone showed up to the baptism. Even Lucious. During the baptism, Lucious had another flashback about his mother. This time Leah was dunking a young Lucious in the bathtub repeatedly. This further shows his mother’s own mental issues.

‘Never Love Again’

Lucious is producing Jamal now and now it’s with the help of the beautiful Ne-Yo. Jamal and Ne-Yo decide to collab on a few tour dates as they start to work together on Jamal’s song, “Never Love Again.” Michael’s excited, as he’s a fan of Ne-Yo’s. Lucious doesn’t think it’s a good idea to bring your girl(boy)friend on tour.

The Rolling Stone photographer (still looks like Tom Green) makes another appearance and it’s certainly an interesting one. He tells Jamal that he shouldn’t bring Michael on tour and later tries to engage in oral sex with Jamal. Jamal doesn’t go through with it just as Michael walks up.

Later that night at Jamal and Micheal’s house, Jamal discovers the photographer performing oral sex on Michael! Jamal’s assistant Becky punches the Tom Green-look-alike on the way out the door.

Lyon Dynasty

Tiana was outside waiting for her ride after being in the studio all day when a couple of girls walked in the doorway and asked for a picture. While taking photos with them one of them pulls a razor out of her mouth and threatens Tiana with it while the other one steals her bag.

Cookie is infuriated, even more so when they receive a video of the local thugs looking through Tiana’s bag and saying Lyon Dynasty is in “their” hood, so they’ve been marked and need to pay.

During the process of hiring backup and promotional help for Lyon Dynasty, it becomes invaded. Cookie and her interviewee Mr. Delgado discover the intruders were sent by Thirsty Rawlings and Lucious to steal the music and plant bugs.

The episode ends with Hakeem going on a run and the local thugs kidnapping him and throwing him into their van!

The artists

At Empire: Looks like Lucious ended up signing Freda. She had a bit of trouble getting in the groove of things in the studio while working on her song, “Why Go.” Lucious helped her work through it by talking to her about how much her father loved her.

At Lyon Dynasty: Hakeem brought in Laura to sing lead in his girl group. While everyone was dancing at Lyon Dynasty, Hakeem came in a bit too strong and Laura wasn’t having it. Hakeem later apologized and things seem to be okay for now.
