Everyone is super confused about the Emoji movie news. None more so than Jimmy Kimmel, who enlists Brie Larson for a dramatic script reading.

Earlier this week, we brought you some astonishing (in more ways than one) news: Sony has bought the rights to an “Emoji movie” — yes, a movie about the little yellow smileys.

Coming on the heels of the Monopoly and Hello Kitty movie announcements, it’s not really surprising that a movie studio would try to base a franchise on this popular phenomenon, but just how are they planning to pull this off?!

Jimmy Kimmel wondered the same thing, and so on his late-night show Jimmy Kimmel Live, he enlisted Trainwreck actress Brie Larson to do a “script reading” for the movie, as he imagines the story might play out:

Essentially, the pair tells a story of a couple who meet, fall in love, get married and then fall out of love, all with just emoji descriptions.

And you know what? That’s… probably what most of us were imagining. Unless of course Sony goes the Pixels route, and sends an angry pack of emojis on a murderous rampage in some major U.S. city.

Hey, maybe the ’80s game characters from Pixels can return to fight off the emojis! They’ll get a little help from the Mr Men movie characters, and at the end they’ll all sit down for a nice game of The Settlers.

What do you think about the Emoji movie news? Is this gonna be a ‘Battleship’ or a ‘Lego Movie’?
