A lot of shows we love were nominated for Emmys this morning! However, a lot of shows we love were not.

Snubs come in all shapes and sizes. Network dramas, broadcast comedies, women who won the Golden Globe this year, men who’ve nary been recognized by the Academy, all deserving, but few will be awarded this fall.

Please note, a snub is not an actor or show not being nominated after she/he and the show has won multiple times. A snub is the Academy of Television Arts and Sciences flat out ignoring some of the incredible content that was created over the past year and shared via traditional television platforms, Netflix, Yahoo, etc. What we mean is — The Big Bang Theory did not get snubbed.

At least it’s reassuring to know that the Academy doesn’t like communists. But after an unarguably strong third season, The Americans has once again been shut out of the big category and nearly altogether, if not for the amazing script for “Do Mail Robots Dream Of Electric Sheep?” and Margo Martindale as an Outstanding Guest Actress in a Drama Series.

Here are our thoughts about some of the snubs from this morning

There was no love for The Good Wife, but if they were going to win an Emmy it would’ve been for last year with that episode, when it was still fresh in people’s minds. Another beloved network drama, Parenthood, was shut-out from the race as well. The show, which had a heart-warming (or wrenching, depending how you look at it) series finale this past winter, never was a ratings hit, but people found it over it’s six-season run, and enjoyed it a fair amount.

Also, much to the dismay of TV critics on Twitter and people with hearts, there was no love for Jane the Virgin. The CW was able to break their dry spell with the Globes earlier this year thanks to amazing shining ball of happiness Gina Rodriguez, but the Emmys are another beat. It looks like both Jane the Virgin and The CW’s other strong freshman drama The Flash will have to avoid the sophomore slump in a big way to have a shot at the statue next year.

But it’s not all bad news for The CW. The Flash did get a technical nomination for Outstanding Special Visual Effects, but that’s not to discredit the strengths of the writers, actors, editors and everyone else who deserves one.

Another surprise: The incredible Fox drama Empire was not nominated in the Outstanding Drama category. The show never faltered during its half-season run earlier this year — it was a ratings juggernaut for the network and almost unanimously praised on social media.

At the end of the day, people who deserved to be recognized got the nominations in their respective fields for a reason. Tatiana Maslany, the insane can’t-look-away show that was Peter Pan Live!, the final season of Mad Men — all extremely worthy of their nominations.

It’s tough to select only a handful of worthy nominees when there are dozens that could fill the roles, but we’re still upset by these snubs!

Which show do you think received the biggest Emmy snub?
