The Perks of Being a Wallflower star Emma Watson and the movie’s author and director are set to reunite on the book to film adaptation of 29 titled While We’re Young.

Making this project even better, writing duo Michael H. Weber and Scott Neustadter (who penned The Spectacular Now, 500 Days of Summer, and The Fault in Our Stars) are handling the script for Chbosky.

This will be Chbosky’s second time in the director’s chair for a feature film. His first, Perks, was based on the book of the same title by the man himself. He also handled wrote the screenplay. The movie adaptation was very well received thanks largely to solid casting choices and the fact that Chbosky brought his own book to life.

The synopsis for 29 by Adena Halpern is as follows (provided by Amazon, where the book has a 4 1/2 star rating):

Ellie Jerome is a young-at-heart seventy-five-year-old who feels she has more in common with her twenty-nine-year-old granddaughter, Lucy, than her fifty-five-year-old daughter, Barbara. Ellie’s done everything she can to stay young, and the last thing she wants is to celebrate another birthday. So when she finds herself confronted with a cake full of candles, Ellie wishes more than anything that she could be twenty-nine again, just for one day. But who expects a wish like that to come true?

29 is the story of three generations of women and how one magical day shakes up everything they know about each other. While Ellie finds that the life of a twenty-something is not as carefree as she expected, the sheer joy of being young again prompts her to consider living her life all over. Does she dare stay young for more than this day, even if it means leaving everyone she loves behind?

Though Deadline’s report does not make it clear, Watson will either portray the 29-year old daughter or the 75-year old grandmother who turns 29 for a day.

The film will be distributed by 20th Century Fox. With Chbosky, Watson, Weber, and Neustadter all aboard, we can’t wait for this one.

Watson has several other big projects lined up including Beauty and the Beast with Guillermo Del Toro and Queen of the Tearling with her Harry Potter producer David Heyman.

Thanks to Deadline for the tip.
