If rumors are to be believed, Emma Watson and Miles Teller could be co-starring in a new musical.

The Wrap is hearing from multiple sources that Emma Watson and Miles Teller are in talks to star in La La Land, a musical from writer-director Damien Chazelle.

La La Land is said to feature only two main characters that fall in love in Los Angeles, but it might not work out in the “cutthroat climate” that surrounds them. The two characters are “aspiring actress Mia, who’s lonely and desperate to fit in, and cocky yet charismatic jazz pianist Sebastian.”

The film is said to be a “song and dance romance,” and it could be really fun to see these two stars take part in a project that sounds excitingly fresh.

“I’d like to make a contemporary musical about L.A., starting with the L.A. we know but slowly building to a vision of the city as romantic metropolis–one that is actually worthy of the dreams it inspires,” writer-director Chazelle said. “I’d like to make a musical about the way L.A.’s peculiar rhythms can push its residents to the edge of their emotions–be they hope, desperation or love. Think the kind of teetering-toward-madness you see in ‘The Graduate’ or ‘Boogie Nights,’ and imagine if you were to push that further. In this case, the city pushes its residents all the way: it pushes them into song.”

Teller worked with La La Land writer-director Chazelle previously on Whiplash, a drama that premiered to great reviews this January at the Sundance Film Festival. Teller stars as a young drummer who butts heads with his strict instructor played by J.K. Simmons.

Watson starred in Darren Aronofsky’s Noah earlier this year. After recently graduating from college, Watson is currently filming Regression, a thriller from writer-director Alejandro Amenábar; she’ll co-star with Ethan Hawke.
