A little-cross fandom love went down while Emma Watson promoted The Perks of Being a Wallflower with Vanity Fair Italy.

The actress, who played Hermione Granger in the Harry Potter films, knows what Kristen Stewart (Twilight) has to deal with under the media spotlight.

So it was with conviction that Emma Watson defends Kristen Stewart in this new interview. Watson was asked to comment on the media attacks Stewart had to put up with during her break up from Robert Pattinson last summer. Following Stewart’s announcement, the spotlight was turned on her vividly.

“Those who criticized her are the same people that think that being rich and famous is like being covered in some kind of magic powder that makes life perfect: Nothing can go wrong in your wonderful world,” said Watson. “For these people, Kristen deserves all the bad things that have been thrown at her because she had an amazing life and she ruined it.”

“I thought that the media picked on her in a very horrible way,” she continued. “Kristen is human, just like everybody else, and she’s so young.”

We admire Watson’s honest, and very correct, interpretation of how the story was handled by the media. Given that Stewart and Pattinson’s real relationship was dramatized on the big screen with the Bella and Edward characters, the scandal had carried extra weight.

Stewart admitted in July that she had cheated on long-time boyfriend Robert Pattinson with Snow White and the Huntsman director Rupert Saunders. Some had speculated it was a publicity stunt ahead of Breaking Dawn – Part 2′s November release.
